The Disappearance of Maura Murray

 The Disappearance of Maura Murray

This case has so many questions than it does answers.

I believe that she’s not missing but deceased.

Q. Was she an overachiever who had had enough and started
over somewhere? If so, why cut her family out of her life? Was
her family part of the problem?
Q. What was with the rag in the muffler? I could never get a
clear understanding of why the girls’ father would teach them
to do that.
According to the Murray’s website, Maura disappeared on the
evening of February 9, 2004, after she crashed her car on Rt.
112 in Haverhill, NH. At the time of her disappearance, she was
enrolled as a junior in a nursing program at the University of
Massachusetts.
Her story has made international headlines. (My question:
WHY did it garner such interest? There is nothing that I could
find that would suggest such an interest).
Why has it had so much media coverage?
Family website says Maura submitted work electronically and
emailed professors about a family death and she would be
gone a week. Apparently there was no death.

Things we DO know:

 Called the owner of a condo in Bartlett, NH (apparently
the family stayed there at one point and Maura enjoyed it)
 She packed a bag with toiletries, makeup, workout
clothes, schoolbooks, and several days’ worth of clothes.
 About 3:15 pm, off campus ATM camera took her picture
as she withdrew $280, nearly all of her money
 She stopped by a liquor store & bought $40 worth of
alcohol

According to police, she left the Amherst/Hadley, MA area
around 4:30 pm and drove her 1996 Saturn N toward NH.
Around 7:27 pm. a woman named Faith Westman, a
resident of Haverhill, NH, called the police and stated there
was an accident near her home and a car stuck in the ditch.

Not long after, a bus driver, Butch Atwood drove by and
spoke to Maura and offered to help. She declined his help
saying she had called for help. He went on home, supposedly
and called for help, knowing that there was no cell coverage
in the area.

The car was located and was found to be locked by rescue
personnel. The police arrived shortly after. There were
reddish stains on the ceiling and the floor.
 Were they ever tested?
 Alcohol?
 Blood?
 DNA?
Was there snow on the ground when the bus driver spoke to
her at approximately 7:30 pm?
If there was snow on the ground when the police, EMTs, and
fire trucks responded, were there footprints on the ground? Or
were they covered? Was there a trail nearby?
** rumors online suggest that Maura hid nearby off trail and
got disoriented in the snow and died and her remains were never found.
